Description
Providence House is a house dating from around 1830, situated endwise to Castle Road in West Cowes. The building is finished in stucco and features a mansarded slate roof. It stands two storeys tall with attics, and has three windows and three dormers. The front is flanked by pilasters, and the cornice and parapet are cut away in front of the dormer windows, creating a castellated appearance. The windows are set in moulded architrave surrounds with dripstones above, supported by corbel heads shaped like masks. All the windows, except for the central first-floor window, are 2-light windows. The porch is adorned with Doric columns and has a pedimented doorcase, which includes a rectangular fanlight and a door with six moulded panels.
