Description

Lower House is a house, likely of a modern date plaque displaying 1620, although the dripmouldings suggest a construction date closer to around 1690. It is built of rubble stone from the Isle of Wight, with a tiled roof and a central chimneystack made of brick. The house is a two-bay lobby entrance house of two storeys and attics, with a gable end. Stone coping and kneelers are present on the gable ends. The first floor features two double mullioned windows set in stone surrounds. The ground floor has two three-light mullioned windows and a centrally positioned, obtusely pointed doorcase with a hood moulding, which incorporates the windows above. A deep plinth is also visible. An outshut, of the same period as the main house, extends to the rear.
