Description
Numbers 77-89 and attached walls and gate piers comprise a terrace of early 19th-century houses. They are constructed of stucco, with the roof hidden behind a parapet. The terrace is three storeys high and consists of houses arranged in pairs, except for number 89, which is a single house. Each pair of houses has a flat-arched entrance, linked by pilasters and an entablature. The windows are flat-arched throughout. Numbers 86 and 88 feature canted bays on the ground floor, while the first and second floors of each pair are flanked by fluted Ionic pilasters decorated with anthemion ornament at the neck. A second set of pilasters rises above the porch, with a slightly projecting front section that has a plain, architraved window between the first and second floors. First-floor windows have cornices supported by consoles, and balconies with cast-iron railings, although number 80 lacks the console cornices. The sashes are of original design in numbers 77-79, 82-85, 86 (first and second floors), and 87. Each pair of houses has a separate cornice and a continuous blocking course. Stacks are located on the party walls. The interiors have not been inspected. The property is surrounded by stuccoed dwarf garden walls with square gate piers having corniced tops, although the walls are absent from numbers 82 and 83.
