Description
Numbers 21-28 Belvedere Terrace and attached railings are a group of terraced houses dating to circa 1853. They are constructed of stucco with roofs of Welsh slate. The properties are arranged as four pairs, each with a three-window range across three storeys plus a basement, with dormers in the roof. Each house has a single segmental bay to the front. Steps lead up to double porches framed by pilasters and an architrave with a garlanded frieze. The porches have simple recessed doorcases with overlights. Panelled doors of an original design are present at numbers 22-23 and 25-26. The ground floor is decorated with banded rustication. All windows have flat arches; those to the first floor have moulded stucco architraves, cornices to the outer windows, and pediments to the inner. Second-floor windows have moulded stucco architraves and 6/6 sash windows of original design. A cast-iron balconette is present on the ground floor of number 25. Balconies with cast-iron railings are found at first-floor level on all houses. A dentil cornice and blocking course are also present. Dormers are incorporated into the mansard roof of each house, and stacks are situated on the party walls. The interior has not been inspected. The property includes cast-iron railings featuring fleur-de-lys finials.
