Description

Ovingdean Grange is a farmhouse incorporating elements from the 17th century, with a main range dating to the 18th century, and alterations around 1835. It is constructed of flint with brick dressings, rendered sections, and roofs of slate and tile.

The building has two storeys with dormers and an irregular plan. The present west front, which serves as the main entrance, was altered in the early 19th century with a decorative, dummy third storey and rendered finish. It features a three-window range with a Doric porch over a flat-arched entrance, containing an overlight and a panelled door of original design. Ground-floor windows are blocked, while first-floor windows have early 19th-century tripartite sash windows. The blank windows of the dummy third storey are topped by a cornice and parapet. The north front is partly rendered and includes a two-storey gabled wing from the early 17th century with stone quoins. The east front has two early 19th-century tripartite sash windows within a generally 18th-century range, along with a range of single-storey outbuildings.

The interior has not been inspected.
