This is a lamp post located in front of number 18 on Lewes Crescent in Brighton. It dates from the mid to late 19th century and was converted to an electric light standard in the early 20th century. The lamp post is made of cast iron and features a fluted tapering shaft that rises from the pavement to a cylindrical impost block. A single maintenance arm projects from the top at right angles to the shaft. Above this, there is a rectangular circular box from which a swan-necked arm extends, featuring a scroll bracket and a shallow dish reflector.
