Description

Numbers 11-14 Richmond Terrace are a group of terraced houses built in 1818 by Amon Wilds. They are constructed of stucco with a roof of Welsh slate.

The houses are two storeys over a basement, with an attic, and each has three windows. Numbers 11 and 14 are set back slightly, with their outer entrance bays set back further. Numbers 12 and 13 feature banded rustication on the ground floor. Steps lead up to flat-arched entrances, each with an overlight. Numbers 11, 12, and 14 retain their original glazing bars to the windows; all windows are flat-arched, with those to number 13 on the ground floor featuring blind boxes and those to number 14 featuring floating cornices which are now slightly altered. First-floor windows to numbers 11-13 are lower and feature bracketed balconies with cast-iron arcaded railings. An entablature is topped with a bold triglyph frieze, with guttae remaining only on number 14. A cornice and blocking course are also present, with possible remains of antefixae over numbers 12 and 14. Flat-arched dormers are incorporated into the mansard roof, and stacks project from the party walls. The interior of the properties has not been inspected.

Cast-iron railings with spearhead finials are present at the steps and area, except at number 14. Arcaded railings are found on the ground-floor balconies of numbers 12 and 14. Panelled gate piers are positioned at numbers 11, 12, and 13, and are crowned with shell niches, mirroring the style of number 7.
