Description

The former coal shed at Goldstone Pumping Station is a building dating from 1872, which has been converted into a museum with workshops at the rear, although the workshops are not of special architectural interest. The structure is built of brick and features slate roofs with coped verges. It has an L-shaped plan, with the coal shed oriented north-south and an entrance on the north front. The workshops are located at the south end, lying east-west. The north end is gable-fronted and single storey, with another storey below ground. The building has three bays, with arch-headed openings that are blocked, and inserted double doors in the outer bays. The left return has a 6:1:6 bay configuration and is unlit. The interior has been rebuilt to include a gallery. The building is included for its group value.
