Description
Peacock Farmhouse is a farmhouse with an attached outbuilding, now part of the house, dating from the late 16th century, with alterations made in the 18th and 20th centuries. The building features a combination of timber framing encased in painted brick and brickwork. It has an old tile gabled roof with a catslide roof at the rear. The farmhouse has a rectangular plan consisting of three framed bays with a pent roof at the back.
The structure is two storeys high with an attic and includes two chimneys topped with clay pots; one end gable chimney has a cornice. The southeast front is symmetrical with three bays, featuring a platband at the first floor that is brick dentilled and has flush eaves. The windows are three-light 19th-century casements with horizontal glazing bars, and those on the ground floor have segmental heads.
Inside, the principal beams and joists on the ground floor are chamfered and have shied stops. To the right of the main house is a single-storey gabled extension, which continues as part of the outbuildings.
