Description
Clock House is a substantial house, originally detached but now converted into flats. It dates from the early 18th century, with a refacing of the east facade completed in the late 18th century. The east facade is constructed of yellow brick, and the roof is not visible. The building has three storeys plus a basement and is seven windows wide, with the three central bays slightly projecting and topped with a pediment above the second floor. There are steps leading up to a central 19th-century projecting porch, which features pilasters and is made of stucco, with a 20th-century door. The windows have square gauged heads, flush frames, sashes, and glazing bars. Above the second floor, there is a console cornice, possibly painted stone, and a blind oculus in the pediment. The building has a parapet and the rear facade features red dressings on the upper storey, a central three-storey segmental bay window, and a tented canopied veranda across the entire front, supported by iron "Saracenic" piers.
Inside, the entrance hall has a polished black and white marble floor and bolection moulded oak panelling. There is a staircase in a panelled room to the rear left that rises two flights, featuring turned balusters with acanthus decoration. The remaining interiors have not been inspected.
