Description
Clapham Lodge is a detached house built in 1864, designed by architect E S Hayward. The building has two storeys and a basement, topped with a slate roof that features deep, bracketed eaves. The exterior is finished in stucco, with a continuous drip band above the ground floor windows and a cill band above. There are four sash windows on both the front and rear of the house. The entrance includes a plain door with a rectangular light above it. Inside, the property retains many original features. Clapham Lodge was built for Miss Thornton, the daughter of John Thornton of the Clapham Sect.
