Description
The piers, wall, and railings to the original Parkfields, located on the north-west side of Westcroft Road in Carshalton, date from the late 18th century. The entrance to Parkfields is flanked on the left by a stock brick pier featuring a fluted frieze and stone capping. A short stretch of brick wall connects this pier to Parkfield Lodge, which also has another similar pier embedded in its wall. To the right of the entrance, there is another short stretch of wall and a similar brick pier. Further to the right, a low dwarf wall is topped with railings. These railings have upright posts with spiked finials and, at intervals, standards with urn finials. They extend eastwards to the entrance of No 35, known as Springbank, which is a 19th-century addition to a demolished 18th-century house. The piers, walls, and railings of Parkfields, along with Westcroft Cottage and Westcroft Farm Cottage, form a group with Bramblehaw End, Bramblehaw Cottage, and an outbuilding over the drive to Bramblehaw Cottage.
