Description

The Church of St Elizabeth of Portugal, built in 1824, features a chancel and adjoining presbytery designed by F A Walters in 1903. The church is constructed of yellow and red brick and includes a square tower with stone corner pilasters at the upper stage and cornices. The tower is topped with a hexagonal dome, an open lantern, and a spirelet. An Ionic entrance porch adds to the design. The first stage cornice of the tower extends continuously with the parapet of the main body of the church, which is illuminated by a series of simple round-headed windows that rise from a band course that also connects with the tower.
