Description

Houblon's Almshouses, built in 1757-1758, consist of three two-storey blocks arranged around three sides of a square. The buildings feature tiled roofs and are constructed of brown brick, with a brick eaves cornice and a brick band at the first floor level. The windows are two-light sash types set under segmental arches, while the doors also have segmental arches and are topped with gabled porches supported by brackets. The entrance bay is pedimented and bears the inscription: "These almshouses were erected and endowed by Mrs Rebecca and Mrs Susannah Houblon 1758."
