Description

River Cottage is an early to mid-18th century house located on the east side of Lower Teddington Road. It is a three-storey building, originally five bays wide (a 2:3 bay arrangement) and one room deep, with a parapeted painted brick facade. A brick band runs horizontally across the building at the second floor level. The window openings have flat, gauged brick heads. Some windows are blind. Two first-floor windows on the left-hand side have mid-19th century projecting oriel bays, while the remaining windows have almost flush, architraved sash boxes. The rear wall is stuccoed and built on a timber frame. The interior features a staircase with a moulded handrail and turned balusters, and a fully panelled room on the first floor facing south.
