Description

Brook House is a late 18th-century house located on the east side of Sonning High Street. It is constructed of painted brick with a low-pitched old tile roof and flat eaves supported by widely spaced cut brackets. Chimneys are located on either side of the roof. The front elevation has three bays, featuring vertical sliding sash windows with glazing bars and plain reveals and cills. A small angular bay with a hipped lead roof is situated on the right-hand side of the ground floor. The central doorway comprises six panels, a radiating fanlight, and is flanked by reeded pilasters supporting an arched architrave. To the left is a two-storey service wing of painted brick, originally contemporary with the main building but later re-fronted.
