Description
The Hampton Wick War Memorial is located in a small memorial garden on the south side of the road junction west of Kingston Bridge, which is a Grade II*-listed structure, and within the registered park of Hampton Court, a Grade I site. The memorial features a stone cross designed in the Art Deco style, which sits atop a rectangular plinth. This plinth is flanked by stone blocks on both sides and includes a small rectangular tablet at the front, all of which display inscriptions. The memorial is set on a three-stepped, square stone base.
The main inscription on the front face of the plinth reads: "PARISH OF HAMPTON WICK/ 1914-1918/ TO THE GLORY OF GOD/ AND IN MEMORY OF THOSE BRAVE MEN OF THIS PARISH/ WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES FOR THEIR COUNTRY/ 1939-1945/ (13 NAMES)." The blocks on either side of the plinth list the names of 47 men from Hampton Wick who died during the First World War, while the small tablet features four additional names.
