Description
Colliers Wood London Regional Transport Station is a light rail transit station built in 1926, designed by Charles Holden. The building is constructed from Portland stone and features a symmetrical design on a corner site, showcasing a vestigial stripped classical style. The tall ticket hall is positioned at the corner, featuring a wide entrance, while lower single-storey stone-faced shops flank it on either side. The facade is canted, with fluted jambs framing the square-headed entrance, which is topped by a cantilevered canopy. Above, there are tripartite clerestory windows, with the three sections separated by corner columns that have globular capitals. The vertical metal glazing bars incorporate the London Transport motif in stained glass. This station is part of the 1926 extension to the City and South London Underground Railway.
