Description
The war memorial at St Saviour's Church was erected between 1920 and 1921. It was designed by Arthur Blomfield and crafted by the sculptor T Mewburn Crook, using Portland stone. The memorial features a two-step shallow plinth that rises from a broad square stone base, with the top section of the plinth being chamfered. A tall square battered cross shaft rises from the plinth, and the slightly projecting lower section is inscribed with the names of the 99 men from Raynes Park who lost their lives during the Great War. The short arms of the cross each support a carved figure, while the central section holds a smaller cross.
