Description
The Coal Duty boundary post outside The Star Public House is a historic structure erected under the London Coal and Wine Duties Continuance Act of 1861. This cast iron post stands about 4 feet tall and features square dimensions with chamfered edges, a moulded pyramidal top, and a plinth. It is inscribed with "4 3? 25 VICT/CAP 42" and displays the City of London's Coat of Arms on the side facing the road. The post is likely to have been cast by Henry Grissell at the Regent's Canal Ironworks, located on Eagle Wharf Road in Hoxton. At the time of the survey, the inscription on the rear was partially buried.
