Description
The East Stables in Gunnersbury Park is a mid-19th century building that may include parts of an earlier structure. It is constructed of stucco and features an entablature and a solid parapet. The building has consoles supporting the cornice, which is adorned with projecting central and end pilasters. There are six semi-circular windows with archivolts, and the wall below and at the center is rusticated, featuring a tall arch that is round-headed and set in a coved reveal. At the center of the parapet, there is a richly carved Portland stone shield of arms belonging to the Rothschild family, complete with mantling.
