Description
No. 103 on Pears Road in Hounslow is a building from 1854, designed by Frederick Hyde Pownall. Originally serving as militia barracks and a gunpowder factory, it features a two-storey main building that is three bays wide, with quoins on either side. The central doorway is framed by a Gibbs surround, and the building has sash windows with glazing bars, while the front floor windows include margin panes. Constructed of brown brick, it has a slated roof. The brown brick walls connect to single-storey wings on the east and west, which are also pedimented, quoined, and made of brown brick with slated roofs. These wings have semi-circular openings with rusticated surrounds, although only one of these openings remains intact.
