Description
The Aviary, also known as the Little Orangery, is located in Osterley Park and was built around 1780 by architect Robert Adam. It features a D-shaped plan and is constructed of stucco. The design includes a continuous "motif Palladio" with Ionic pilasters and five main windows that have double-hung sashes. The building is adorned with circular plaques that display designs in "bosso relievo" and has a Welsh slate half conical roof. The Aviary has recently undergone restoration.
Osterley House, the Stables, the Temple, and the Aviary are part of a group, along with the "Roman Bridge," which is situated to the north in the borough of Ealing.
