Description

Brill's Cottage is an early 16th century small house located on the south side of Breakspear Road in Ruislip Common. The building is two storeys high and has three and a half bays, with the short bay positioned second from the right. It features exposed stout square framing with arch braces and plaster filling. The roof is high-pitched and tiled, with an old brick chimney situated over the right bay. The cottage has small modern casement windows. Inside, there is much exposed timber, including a side purlin roof with wind braces. Smoke blackening can be seen on the roof timbers of the west bay only. The narrow bay to the east may have originally served as a passage but now contains a chimney.
