Description
Copthall Farmhouse is a 16th century, three-bay timber-framed building that has a later brick exterior and a southeast wing added in the late 19th century. The farmhouse has an L-shaped front and stands two storeys tall. Two bays of the original house are still visible, while the Victorian l-bay wing projects to the left under a hipped gable. At the back, there is a late 17th century lean-to on the right side. The structure is made of red brick and features a half-hipped tiled roof with an old ridge stack. The entrance is located in a 19th century porch at the angle of the building. The rear displays exposed heavy square framing with brick filling and a projecting chimney in the southern bay. Throughout the farmhouse, there are small 19th century one-bar casement windows. Inside, the framing is complete, including a side-purlin roof with wind braces.
