Description

The small barn located to the south of Manor Farm Yard in Ruislip dates from around 1600 and is now a public library. It features seven bays, with outer walls that are partly weatherboarded and partly rebuilt in brick, along with pent additions on the north side. The barn has a high-pitched tiled roof and a gabled porch on the north side. Inside, it showcases a queen post roof with wind braces supporting the purlins, and arch braces connecting the tie beam to the wall plates. There are swell-head posts, and a one-storey western extension, which is said to have been used as a sick box. The small barn is part of a group that includes the Great Barn, the north cowshed and sties, and the east cowshed.
