Description
The Church of St Peter, built between 1911 and 1913 by Fellowes Prynne, is a Grade II listed building located on Sumner Road in West Harrow. It is constructed of snecked rubble and features a somewhat Italianate late Decorated Gothic style. The church has a five-bay nave and a two-bay chancel under a single roof, separated only by a bell-cote. There are lean-to aisles with windows that have segmental arches, and the building does not have a clerestory. It includes gabled double transepts, and the chancel has aisles, a Lady Chapel with a gallery above on the north side, and vestries, one of which has an organ chamber above, on the south side. The west end features an apsidal baptistery flanked by tall windows over porches, with a rose window in the gable above. The internal stonework displays alternating bands of fawn and buff, and the pointed ribbed timber barrel vault is coved at the base.
