Description
This is a group of houses at 29-37 Horn Buckle Close, Harrow-on-the-Hill, originally listed as The Superintendent's House of Harrow Laundry under Alma Road and built in 1887 by E.S. Prior. The buildings are in an Arts and Crafts style. They are constructed of light purple brick with red dressings and have a half-hipped mansard tiled roof. The houses are two storeys high with four windows, those on the first floor set within tiled gables that break the forward-sweeping eaves. A two-bay window is positioned on the left, separated by two tall chimneys. The window rests on corbelled courses above arched, recessed two-light ground-floor windows. A flight of steps with curved side walls leads to a front door with a radial fanlight. Cigar-shaped columns support a canopy over the steps on the left return front and a recessed entrance loggia at the rear. The buildings were restored as flats in 1980.
