Description
The Edinburgh Castle Public House is a mid-19th century building that stands three storeys tall and features three windows. It is constructed of multicoloured stock brick with a stuccoed front. The building has a stucco cornice and a blocking course, along with a brick parapet that conceals the roof. Heavy rusticated stucco quoins add to its architectural detail. The sash windows are adorned with moulded architraves; those on the second floor include glazing bars, while the first-floor windows feature cornices and pediments. Moulded consoles support the cornice of the central window. The three-light side windows have pediments that are broken forward over the centre light. On the ground floor, brick pilasters support a fascia board, which is articulated by sunk panels and topped with a moulded cornice. The front of the building is symmetrical, with alternating double doors and five-light sash windows, and moulded brick panels are located below the windows.
