Description

This is a row of cottages at 18-28 Government Row, Enfield Lock, built between 1854 and 1858. Constructed of brown brick in a Flemish bond pattern, the row has brick ridge and end stacks. The cottages have double-depth plans and are arranged over two storeys, featuring a 28-window range. Each cottage has a four-panelled door beneath a gauged cambered brick arch, and windows with horned 12-pane sashes. Raised bands mark the storey line and eaves. The interiors remain uninspected. The row was built to house workers at the Royal Small Arms Factory. It is included on the heritage list solely for its group value.
