Description

Luthers is a substantial early 19th-century house, dating largely from 1767, with a colourwashed brick exterior and a hipped roof covered in Welsh slate. The building incorporates an earlier house situated on a lower level, which has since been built up. The two-storey structure has wide eaves and five sash windows with glazing bars, each fitted with blind shades. A central Doric porch shelters a half-glazed two-fold door with octagonal fielded panels. Louvered shutters are fitted to the first-floor windows. The interior is largely unaltered and features carved marble fireplaces, possibly of Italian origin. It is believed that some timber framework from the earlier house on the site remains within the building.
