Description

This is a row of five cottages, built between 1856 and 1857 in a Flemish bond brick pattern. The brickwork features gauged arches over the doors and windows, and the windows have stone sills. The roof is slate, with a hipped design at each end. The southern side of number 71 has slate cladding on wooden battens. Tall chimney stacks are located at the north and south ends of the row. It is two storeys high, with a two-course platband above the ground floor. Twelve-pane sash windows remain at number 76, and similar windows may be present at other houses in the row. Single-storey extensions project from the rear of each house. Interiors were not inspected. The cottages were built to provide housing for workers at the Royal Small Arms Factory.
