Description

This house at 39, The Avenue, dates from around 1876 and was designed by E.W. Godwin, with adaptations by W. Wilson. It is one of the earliest houses built in Bedford Park, reflecting the estate's initial architectural vision. The house is constructed of red and yellow brick, with sections clad in tiles, and has a tiled roof. The main building is two storeys high with an attic, and includes a three-storey gabled bay on the return elevation. A flat-roofed addition is topped with a coved cornice. There’s a single-storey bay fronting Marlborough Crescent. The original brick pier remains in the front garden.
