Description
The Park Langley 'Chinese' Garage, built in 1928 by Edmund B. Clarke, is a petrol filling station featuring a timber frame and an oriental-style tiled bell-cast roof. This single-storey rectangular office has a projecting canopy over modern petrol pumps, which have a double-pitch roof and deep eaves cornices that rise to a pagoda-like cupola. The walls are adorned with black and white painted framing and leaded lights, along with a late 20th-century door.
The garage is set within its own garden, which includes low shrubs and a pool, all surrounded by a low wall. On this wall, there are two tall lanterns with bell-cast tops and five smaller lanterns with domed tops. This structure is noted as a remarkable survivor from the early days of popular motoring.
