Description

This is a house built in 1897-8 by Francis Hooper, in the Old English style popularised by Norman Shaw. It is constructed of red brick with decorative stone dressings ("stotie dressings"), applied timberwork, and tiled roofs. The house has two main floors and an attic, with three bays. Notable features include two small gables on the left side, and a large, projecting gable above a two-story canted bay on the right. A projecting entrance porch with a curved hood (“segmental hood”) sits to the left, sheltered by a low, sloping roof. Tall brick chimneys are also present.
