Description

BEXLEY HIGH STREET 1. 5005 (north-east side) Bexley No 123 (High Street House) (formerly listed as No 117 (High Street House)) TQ 4973 13/22 1.10.53. II 2. 1761. Two storeys. Five windows. Brown brick, block cornice. Hipped tiled roof. Central doorway at head of 5 steps, with engaged Ionic columns. Pediment. Semi-circular fanlight. Door with 6 fielded panels. First-storey window over has rusticated architrave surround. On each side of house a recessed portion with block cornice and cat-slide roof. Contemporary wrought-iron railings to street. John Thorpe, local historian and antiquary, built the house. L B Bexley blue plaque.
