Description

This is a terrace of twelve houses, numbered 3 to 18, located on the southwest corner of South Square. It was designed by Sir Edward Lutyens and built in the 20th century. The buildings are two storeys high and constructed of grey brick with red brick dressings. The doorcases feature architraves, a pulvinated frieze, and a pedimented cornice. Number 3 has a projecting end with a two-story canted bay window. The ground floor windows are square-headed, while the first-floor windows are camber-headed. Dormers possess camber heads and cornices. The chimneys have moulded brick bed moulds and stone cornices. Numbers 16, 17 and 18 present a five-window front to Heathgate.
