Description

Chase Lodge is an early 19th-century house with minor alterations to the rear and interior during the late 20th century. The house is constructed of yellow brick with hipped slate roofs. The central two-storey and basement section features three bays with sash windows under flat arches, and a stepped approach to the front door, which is sheltered by a Tuscan flat-roofed porch. Recessed wings extend to either side, each being one storey and basement high, with two tall, blocked windows under flat, gauged arches. The building features wide boxed eaves and brick chimney stacks. A band of brick runs below the first-floor windows of the central section and aligns with the eaves of the wings. A two-storey range has been added to the right. The interior was not inspected, but original fittings remain, although some late 20th-century alterations created for sports club use are not considered significant. Chase Lodge is listed due to its early 19th-century date, fine late Georgian proportions, and quality materials.
