Description
No. 17 East End Road is a lodge, now used as offices, built around 1880 for Henry Stephens of Avenue House, likely designed by Rodgers Field. The building is in the Gothic style, constructed of stock brick with a hipped slate roof and a central brick chimneystack. It has two storeys and features irregular fenestration, primarily consisting of mullioned and transomed casement windows. The street-facing side includes an angled bay topped with a pyramidal roof, and a left side has a splayed corner gable with kneelers, a finial, and a tripartite casement window. The entrance front features a porch with round-headed arches, an ornamental rainwater head, and a wooden gabled niche. Inside, the building retains a wooden well staircase with stick balusters. It was built as part of a group that includes a stables and coach house.
