Description
The Daniel Almshouses, located on Church Road in Hendon, date from around 1729 and were repaired around 1853 and again in 1893. This building is a single-storey range made of brick, with two-storey blocks at each end and in the center. It features a moulded and dentilled brick cornice along the front, as well as moulded and dentilled brick pediments on the two-storey blocks. The east pediment is damaged and has been repaired without the original moulding and dentils. Above the central door, there is a large inscribed stone tablet that commemorates the foundation, along with smaller tablets that note the repairs, set in an arched recess above. The end pediments include semi-circular windows that break the lower cornice.
