Description

The monument to Sir Henry Bishop, located on Central Avenue in Plot E7, was erected in memory of the musician who lived from 1786 to 1855. It is made of polished pink granite and features a bronze portrait medallion. The structure includes a stone base and four small obelisks, topped by a moulded and battered monument. Sir Henry Bishop was a professor of music at Oxford and a prolific composer of operas that are now largely forgotten.
