Description
These are a row of houses at 37-43 Hogarth Hill, built between 1911 and 1913 and designed by Barry Parker and Raymond Unwin as part of the Hampstead Garden Suburb. The houses are constructed of brick in Flemish bond, with tiled hipped roofs. The site falls away towards the junction with Addison Way, resulting in two storeys and two-and-a-half storeys in places. The main rectangular block is of seven windows, with a round-arched passageway in the centre, topped by a stack. The central range is flanked by polygonal bays, the bay on the right being lower than the left to accommodate the change in ground level. A round-arched entrance and stair light are located on the outside of each bay. The ground-floor windows have cambered arches, and the first-floor windows of the end ranges also have cambered arches. Number 37, on the left end, is a one-window range, with the entrance set in a rabbeted range at the inside corner with number 39. Number 43 has a half-hipped dormer breaking the eaves line towards Addison Way. The end wings have a distinctive Germanic architectural feel and form a strong group with numbers 28-38 Hogarth Hill and numbers 57-79 Addison Way.
