Description
Hadley Hurst is a red brick house built around 1700, likely just after that date. It features a brick band at each floor and stands three storeys tall with five bays, along with a two-storey, three-bay addition. The house has sash windows with glazing bars and a slate roof that includes a timber cornice at the eaves. On the east side, there is a flat stone doorcase topped with a broken pediment. There have been modern alterations that have changed the internal layout. The original central doorway, now located indoors, has an elaborately decorated head with a broken pediment featuring a Roman bust. Inside, notable original features include a panelled stairhall with three turned balusters on each step, as well as valuable fireplaces and doors. The garden front mirrors the main façade, and there is a brick tile service wing to the left that has modern leaded casements.
