Description
The Western Pumping Station is a sewage pumping station built in 1875. It is constructed of yellow brick with stone dressings and features a copper roof. The building has channelled stone at the ground floor and is a freestanding block. It stands two storeys tall and is eight windows wide, with a cornice above the ground floor. The ground floor windows are square-headed, while the first floor windows are segmental with stone surrounds. The windows are sashes with glazing bars. A stone console cornice is present, and the roof is a convex French style mansard covered in copper scales, featuring four oval louvres on the front facade and metal cresting. The returns of the building have a similar treatment.
