Description
The Auxiliary Pumping Station, built around 1875 with some 20th-century alterations, is a single-storey structure made of gault brick and topped with a Bangor slate roof. It features corbelled eaves and a plinth, and has a rectangular plan with a former boiler house that extends westward at a lower height. The building has six windows with segmental headed sashes that include vertical glazing bars. A central segmental headed doorcase contains a four-panelled door. The end doors have been replaced with steel doors, and a 20th-century conservatory has been added. Inside, the building retains a kingpost roof, although the original machinery was removed in 1937. This pumping station is noted for being a rare building type that functionally and visually complements the main pumping station.
