Description

These are a row of three terraced houses located on Harrowby Street, dating from approximately 1810 to 1820. The buildings are constructed of stock brick with stuccoed ground floors, the ground floor of number 42 being rusticated. They have slate roofs. Numbers 41 and 42 are three storeys high with a basement and dormered mansards, while number 43 is four storeys high with a basement. Each house has a front of two windows.

The doorways on the left are semicircular, with numbers 42 and 43 recessed to create a sense of order. They feature panelled doors and fanlights with a radial pattern above. Each doorway is topped with a keystone made of Coade stone, while number 43 also has Coade stone imposts. The ground floor windows of numbers 42 and 43 are semicircular in shape, whereas that of number 41 is square-headed. The upper floors contain recessed sash windows, set within flat, gauged red brick arches. The stucco work on the ground floor is finished with a plat band. Stone-coped parapets sit atop the brickwork. The front of the properties is further enhanced by cast iron area railings with urn finials.
