Description

These are a row of terraced houses on the east side of St George’s Square, dating to around 1850. They are built of stucco, with the roofs hidden from view. The houses are five storeys high and have a basement. Each has two windows. They feature projecting Doric porches, and triglyph friezes, which are simplified on number 97. A panelled door provides entry. A balustraded balcony originally extended from the first floor, but has been removed from numbers 97 to 99. The windows have square heads, architraves above the ground floor, pediments to the first floor, and cornices to the second and third floors. They are sash windows with glazing bars, although the first floor windows are French casements. A console cornice sits above the first floor, but this is missing from number 97. Cast iron area railings are also present.
