Description
The Queen of Denmark Public House is a block of terraced houses dating from the early 19th century, with some alterations. The building is finished in stucco, and while the roof is not visible from Lupus Street, the structure features two windows wide, except for No 1, which has three windows, and No 35 St George's Square, which also has three bays facing Lupus Street with an entrance to St George's Square. The block consists of three storeys plus a two-storey attic, while No 1 has three storeys plus one storey attic. Nos 1 and 35 St George's Square are set forward slightly to create a balanced appearance. The ground floor includes 19th and 20th-century shops, except for Nos 35 and 37 St George's Square. The windows are square-headed, with architraves on No 1 and No 35 St George's Square. The sashes retain most of their glazing bars, and there are French casements on the first floor. A dentil cornice is present above the second floor, along with a subsidiary cornice above the first floor, and there are parapets. The block closes the corner of St George's Square, which contributes to its group value.
