Description
A row of eight houses, numbered 9 to 17, located on St George’s Drive in the City of Westminster, built in the mid-19th century. The houses are constructed of stucco, with a hidden roof. They are arranged over four storeys, with a basement and an attic, although the attics are missing from numbers 15 and 17. Each house has a facade of two windows. The outer houses, numbers 9 and 17, project slightly and feature rusticated quoins. The ground floor is vertically channelled. The houses have panelled front doors, accompanied by slightly projecting porches with a central and triglyph frieze covering the entire ground floor. A continuous balustraded balcony runs along the first floor, but this is absent from numbers 15 and 17. The windows above the ground floor are square-headed, architraved, and corniced to the first and second floors. They are largely sash windows with glazing bars, except for French casements on the first floor. A modillion cornice sits above the third floor, with a smaller subsidiary cornice to the attic. Cast iron area railings are present.
