Description
No. 8 Charles Street is a terrace house built around 1753, with some alterations from the 19th century. The building is constructed of red brick and has a stucco finish, topped with a slate roof. It stands four storeys high, includes a basement, and features a dormered mansard roof. The facade is three windows wide, with a rusticated stucco ground floor. To the right, there is a square-headed architrave doorcase with an entablature supported by consoles and decorated with swags in the frieze. The flat-arched sash windows, which do not have glazing bars, are set within stucco architraves, with those on the first floor featuring cornices on consoles. An early 19th-century cast iron balcony spans the first floor. Above the second floor, there is a cornice, and a lead rainwater head and downpipe from the 18th century are also present. The area is enclosed by cast iron railings.
